About Selking Performance
Designed to reflect brain waves on an EEG and the power of the mind, our logo symbolizes the achieved state of optimal performance through intentional development of self and systems. The Selking Performance Group helps individuals, teams, and organizations Build Championship Mindsets that align and synergize people, purpose, and systems to achieve performance excellence.
From the LockerRoom to the BoardRoom, the Selking Performance Group provides keynote speaking, training facilitation, team or business consulting, and individual or group coaching. Clients have worked with us to help clarify vision and goals, develop championship-level team cultures, drive team alignment, and ultimately, achieve performance excellence in a holistic manner.
When cutting edge teams or organizations seek the very best in terms of high-performance, we have found that a top-down, bottom-up, and culturally-relevant approach is the most effective in achieving results. Such an approach requires top-down leadership buy-in to mold the overall culture, system, and processes that help facilitate high performance; bottom-up Mindset and Leadership training of individuals within that system, which equips them to deliver their best on a more consistent basis; and culturally-relevant materials, language, and applications that resonate deeply with where the individual or team is, and where they want to go.
Independently certified through the John Maxwell Team, this affiliation provides additional valuable resources from the number one provider of leadership development worldwide.
I wish you could hear all the positive comments I’ve received concerning your speech…I’m not surprised by the difference you made.
As she continues to work for elite coaches, athletes, & organizations around the world she will change lives & develop our leaders of tomorrow.
A Letter From Amber
Hello! It is a blessing to introduce you to the Selking Performance Group and our mission of “Building Championship Mindsets.”
Our website does a great job of sharing what the Group does, but as Founder of the Selking Performance Group, I’d like to share briefly about who I am. Raised in northeastern Pennsylvania in small town USA, I grew up going to church, showing livestock, playing sports, and working in the family McDonald’s franchise business. Invigorated by competition and highly driven at a young age, it was then I decided that I wanted to play Division I college soccer.
The pinnacle of my athletic career was putting on the #29 jersey for the Fighting Irish Women’s Soccer program at the University of Notre Dame, a team that advanced all the way to the National Championship game. Although I had verbally committed to the United States Naval Academy during my senior year of high school, a torn ACL one month before I was to leave for Annapolis changed the course of my life forever. Thus began my incredible journey with the Notre Dame Family…
Although injury ended my athletic career early, the identity crisis that ensued forced a type of introspection for which I am eternally grateful. I became very aware of the power of mindset and just how critical a solid foundation of self becomes when most else is stripped away. This would later serve as the impetus behind my doctoral dissertation entitled, “When the Lights Go Out, How Do They Turn Back On?: A Classic Grounded Theory on the Transition out of the National Football League (NFL).”
I graduated from the Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business where I earned a BA degree in Management Consulting, with a minor in European studies and a certificate in international business. My passion for diversity of thought, culture, and experience was fueled by studying in Spain, completing the “Camino de Santiago” pilgrimage across its northern terrain, and traveling throughout Europe.
After graduating from Notre Dame, I worked in human resources for a Fortune 500 manufacturing company. There I had the opportunity to work in manufacturing plants and corporate offices across the country, serving internal customers from the executive suite to the machine press floor.
I returned to graduate school to pursue advanced degrees in sport and performance psychology, completing my MA at the University of Denver and my PhD at the University of Missouri.
From speaking on the national stage, to training Fortune 500 teams on group optimization, to partnering with sports agents to coach their clients, to consulting with Notre Dame Football Head Coach Brian Kelly and serving as the Mental Performance Coach for the 2017 Notre Dame Football team, each of these experiences has played a critical role in positioning me to lead the Selking Performance Group and indeed, to Build Championship Mindsets within our clients.
It would be an honor and a privilege to join you on your journey of Greatness. I look forward to getting to know you and your team, and to work together in order to achieve the excellence you desire, as both a person and a professional.
God Bless & Go Irish,
Dr. Amber Selking
